Oh, for the days of dust tinged streams of light in large public works. These “hark, the herald angels sing!” photos were taken at Grand Central Station in 1941 — before the surrounding buildings blocked out the natural light. Sad!

wow…just beautiful! i’ve visited Grand Central several times during the day and would have loved to see the light pouring in. being in black & white makes the pictures even more lovely, i think.

That really is breathtaking, isn’t it? Is it just me, or does looking at an old atmospheric picture like this seem to scream ‘story, I have a story to tell….’? That man and that woman could fill a book, with just that light and those gestures, and that location.
