I think that humongous dog is probably a great dane. I want one. JB & I have been contemplating a puppy/dog purchase from the shelter. There are so many dogs in my neighborhood, it’s making me WANT.

Holy moly – there must be something in the air!
My friend Oola just read you post on pups and wrote
to tell me about it! I just wrote about doggies as well,
and have very much enjoyed your photos of antique dogs.
I work in an antique store, and there’s something very
affecting for me about seeing animals in old photos.
I think it’s that with the pictures of people, there’s usually
some sort of chance that maybe they’re still around, or
some trace of them is – their children or grand-children.
When I see a cat or dog in a photo I am always struck by
the awareness of mortality. The knowledge that they are
gone, but this little record of them lives on. Thank you for these!

Dogs are pretty awesome. I love these pictures! The photo scene dogs are too amazing. Can you imagine finding an original photo like that somewhere? I’d blow it up and put it on my mantle.
