Moth House

Posted by – May 20, 2010

I’m so bored with my jewelry box (okay, more of an oversize bin filled with metal) lately. As such, I’ve started a bauble witch hunt on Etsy, picking through the infinite virtual  haystack that is the jewelry category in search of an elusive needle — which for me is gold hanging earrings of a vaguely tribal nature, multi strand necklaces that won’t fall apart, interesting solid metal rings and anything agate.

The spoils of this search includes the delicate and ethereal Moth House. The soft focus photography and styling? Well, that just seals the deal. (Seriously, tulle as a casually-thrown-on-wrap? I want that.) My favorite is the multi strand agate necklace. Mmm.

Also! If you know of any interesting jewelry that I should know about or that seems up my alley, definitely let me know. I’m in the market!

My favorites are the twisty ones. Love! Metalwork is a favorite of mine because it is something that I will [probably] never be able to do myself.

The roots earrings by lunaticart….have you seen them?

P.S. Check out alisamiller scroll necklace, which I very recently discovered myself [via suggested shops, no less!] —> http://www.etsy.com/listing/44033843/bright-scroll-necklace-sterling-silver

Ohh yeah I’m totally doing the tulle wrap thing this summer! Perfect for that wedding in July.
These are beautiful. I love the agate one.

Heh, probably can’t recommend much to you since I seem to get most of my bookmarked shops from your blog. But I can definitely sympathize with your plight.
The stuff in the Moth House shop is beautiful!

    Hi Alison,
I love the very first necklace. And I like how well the pictures go with the style and name ;)
May I suggest you take a peek at my etsy shop? I mainly use brass and sterling silver, I obsess over giving pieces an antique finish, and some sort of tribal – worldly inspiration. I believe it could be your style :)

Have you tried Erica Weiner? I’ve wanted her woodlink necklace and feather necklace forever, but I saw some new things on her Etsy page today. The rough garnet ring and white resin ring are now added to that list! She has different stock on her site and on Etsy, so look at both!

I do love Moth House’s jewelry… I’m really liking the brass stacked bar necklace and am craving the silver twig necklace.
I don’t know if they’d be your cup of tea, but I’ve started making handwoven cord necklaces with vintage brass accents on them. More of a crafty look, but I like them ;)
If you’re interested, my shop is at http://www.etsy.com/shop/JZinn
There are only a few items up right now, but next week I’m adding a bunch of new necklaces and maybe a bracelet or two.

If you’re still looking for jewels. I just added a lovely new citrine crystal one to my shop today! http://www.etsy.com/listing/47738617/citrine-necklace

I love these – the photography is beautiful too… I just started making jewelry last week and sold some at the Renegade Craft fair in ATX. I got a good response and opened a shop on etsy. Some of it compliments Jennifer’s work – mixing brass and cotton thread. There’s a better representation of what I’m working on restocking in the sold section. >>:<>:<>:<>:<< I sure do enjoy your blog – thanks for the daily inspiration. ♡♥

  10. beautiful!! and LOVE the styling and photography!
