		<description>I have another theory to offer. . .based upon the appearance and development of the colors, I think that the copper canisters may have sat on cedar shelves rather than pine.  In the metal  cladding &amp; roofing business, copper fasteners, flashing components and gutters cannot be used with cedar shake shingles because the tannins in the cedar will attack the copper.

Nice blog BTW.  Got a link here from Brick House because of your FLW Ennis House post.  Not sure where you go in Iowa but I get to Cedar Rapids once or twice a month for work.  Hit Ottumwa recently for the Louis Sullivan bank. . .
