aw man. What a beaut. I love the old, decayed, and decrepit. I think it may have something to do with being American. Growing up with everything shiny and new all around, the old and historic becomes the erotic. My French BF can’t understand my love for all things crumbly at all. Oddly my bro has the same ramshackle lust that I do and lives in Europe too. And his Euro BF thought he was nuts too. Most of the peeps I meet this side of the pond really prefer the shiny modern thing. pooh. fools.

I love the way the decay is still there in this place and at the same time lights aren’t naked…that’s an art!
We are living in an old house, not that old, 1920s and the precedent owners didn’t ruin the house with too much improving. We had to renovate it (electricity, plumbing) and now the most difficult is to find a balance between lack of comfort ( I hate draughts) and the beauty of the decayed parts…

I go to school in Galesburg, IL, a town founded in the 1870s with several old, old houses. The decay is beautiful but heartbreaking at the same time. More and more houses are being torn down because of town beautification initiatives, and while I love the efforts, it really is hard to see them go.
