I can’t believe you found a job that worked with your broken wrist! I was typing one-handed (I’m a righty, thank god) for two months before I regained use of my fingers on my left hand (they were previously a frightening claw).

I can empathize…both for a broken arm just below the shoulder, and a couple smashed vertebrae, victim of a mid-winter hike in Colorado, where the temp was, believe it or not, 75°!

Then, if that wasn’t enough, it was on my left – and I’m a southpaw. Then…fast forward 40+ years, and I had carpal tunnel surgery on my – you guessed it – left wrist! I dare you to try to drive or do almost anything you’re used to doing! Somewhat broke, I took on a ‘temporary’ job of delivering yellow pages. I got lucky…I was the driver, so didn’t have to try to use the somewhat useless left hand, which was in a cast, which was green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day!

Ack! Poor thing. That is the worst indeed. I had one ER NYC experience and I will concur. Niet so good. I once put my back out playing golf [if anything can be more lame or embarrassing, I can't think of it right now] and the pain was so intense I thought I would go mad. Tuns out wine and painkillers are a girl’s best friend. For some reason each alone, is hardly anything but together the effects are exponential! Hallelujiah. Feel better.

Phew! At least new heels were not ruined forever through bad association! You do realize that from now until death you will walk like a frail bird-boned old lady if there is even a hint of ice! I grip onto Stevie like grim Death if we are walking in the Winter. It is not pretty. I hope the pain is at least fading! One hint – eat LOTS of fiber while you are on the prescription pain meds.

DAMN that sucks. I fell on my ass on the ice two years ago and went through a whole summer of physical therapy to work on my ruptured disk. Winter is not kind, yo.

That’s awful! I haven’t broken a bone since I was nine – a broken arm that was a result of trying to do cartwheels off the couch from a standing position (brilliant, I know). I think that as time went on what drove we the most mad was the itching! Anyway, that was only a greenstick fracture, so I think you are in a bit more pain. I do hope the pills combined with everything else you mentioned above alleviate it somewhat. Also, I sent you an email a couple of days ago, but you don’t have to rush to answer. I wasn’t sure if you would even receive it or if it would quietly slip into your junk mail. Just relax for a week or so and soak up the TLC!

christ, platform shoes + ice huh. i guess sometimes i should be grateful that i live in a hot climate.

at least you can pull the ‘make me a cup of tea, my arm is in a sling” excuse now.

The helplessness really irks me. I’m so used to being independent, and this injury majorly inhibits that. I’m so glad that you know how it feels! (Though my injury pales in comparison to yours.) Pride definitely goeth before the fall.

And I actually didn’t fall in the new heels, THANK GOD. They were old clog boots with no traction and a big heel. Baaaad idea.

Oooh girl I FEEL your pain. The feeling of helplessness and boredom are the worst (after the pain). I’ve been thinking about you! Did you fall in those awesome new heels you just bought??? The horror!!! Poor thing!

(I used to brag that I had never broken a bone too. And we all know how that ended – broken leg. Pride goeth before a fall! HA!)

I too enjoy bragging that I’ve never broken a bone, therefore the universe is out to get me soon, huh? I hope terrible rom coms on Netflix instant are making things easier!! And wine, lots of wine. So good with painkillers (yeah, I said it.)

Oof–that sucks! The weather has been making NYC more treacherous lately; I was lucky to avoid any spills on my evening commute today. I hope the magic pills are helping your pain and hope you soon figure out how to be a one-handed wonder!

I too was proud of having never broken a bone…until I broke my wrist last year. I feel your pain. Once the cast comes off you will have a greater love for your other hand/arm.
