Gem City

As a solid soap devotee (JB turned me on to it!) and a lifelong gem / geode / stone fanatic, these soap stones are my dream come true. Can I imagine actually bathing with one? Hail no. Would they look amazing in my Temple of Doom themed bathroom? Haaaail yes! (I’m totally obsessed with salt lamps these days, so my desk at work has a vignette of glowing orange stones, an anatomically correct ceramic skull and a tiny decapitated hand in a bell jar. Photos forthcoming!)

My favorites of the bunch are the lapiz lazuli and black opal. All of these soaps are available on Etsy or Amazon. Click for origins!

The Glory of Nature

I’ve got a soft spot for anything nature-oriented, but Jeremy Miranda‘s paintings turn my wanton succulent lust into awed silence. I’m undeniably attracted to the palpable, savage brush strokes and the beacon of light that is the glowing green house by night. Miranda is currently working on a series that “combines movie theaters and sublime landscapes. In this particular painting Mt. Hood baths the theatre in gold light…” I like where this is going.

Check out his work in his Etsy shop.

Andy Goldsworthy

I’m having entirely too much fun for a Friday morning with the Andy Goldsworthy Digital Catalogue. His ephemeral nature renderings blow my mind. Definitely worth further investigation.
