Leather of My Dreams

Posted by – November 3, 2010

I’m quite smitten with Alya Kazakevich’s handmade leather shoes and bags (made in Brooklyn, in fact). Her bags are that truly sumptuous shade of leather, which is quite hard to resist. However, the real story here is the shoes. How many contemporary cobblers have you seen? (Not many on my end.) Making shoes by hand really seems like a craft from another century: it’s so labor intensive and hard to get right. These shoes look totally wearable and the styles are so cute!

Black Shoes

The fall shoe hunt for is on! So many black shoes, boots and booties, so little time. I’m partial to all of these, but I think I’ll most likely end up with — well, the jury is still out, but it will have a heel!

For all of the I.D.s, find me on Polyvore.

Mad Max Boots

Seriously lusting after these high-rise babies by Jeffrey Campbell. They’re equal parts desert shit kicker, mixed with some rugged Little House on the Prairie vibe. Put on your bonnet and let’s ride our hogs!

Shoe Lust

I was perusing the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar when I came across these sumptuous little babies, the amazing espadrille rope wedges from Opening Ceremony, punctuating every single outfit in an editorial on “affordable fashion,” of all things. (Can I get an eye roll? Thanks.) They’re totally out of my price range, but that won’t stop me from sitting with my face in my hands, moonily staring at the Opening Ceremony website. Be mine!

Sweden, I salute you. These clog sandals (clandals? clogdals?) are on my list for summer.
