Fashion Thoughts

Greetings! I’m back from Florida (pictures forthcoming! Warning: I’ve developed a bit of a Spanish moss obsession.) and the weather in New York is decidedly open-toe. As per ush, I have been tearing my closet apart in search of weather appropriate outfits that keep me from melting upon sun contact. (This has been known to happen. You know the bully from Pete and Pete, Pitstain? Yeah, that’s me.)

I always depend on a good vintage secretary dress or two, but this spring I’m looking forward to some big ass wedge sandals, abalone and mother of pearl jewelry, raffia bags and less black (gotta leave it at the door once the thermometer tops 70 degrees!). The straw turban is the fashion equivalent of a funnel cake from the county fair (um, YES!) — and I’ve gotta get some lipstick in that color. I’m also huge into snake iconography right now, so the frilly pink snake dress seemed ideal! It’s all about light and bright.

Everything is linked to its origination, so click away!

Also! Gotta change up the playlist with the season, and nothing does it for me like the Marine Girls. This lilting, washed out video perfectly sums up my spring feelings. Boardwalks and sun and wandering!

Put the Lime in the Coconut

Sometimes I fantasize about floating to the edge of a deserted island (with an unlimited supply of those pills that function as food, an axe and a queen size inflatable mattress). I’d spend my days, sloth-like, on the bleached white beaches, observe the tempting neon fish as they hang ten over the water’s edge, and nimble-as-a-billy-goat explore the rolling green expanse (no smoke monsters here). I need some vivid nature to heat up these winter neutrals. Doldrums, be gone!
